UR5e vs UR7e
UR7e uses the same arm geometry as UR5e; Universal Robots publishes one DH table for both. It raises the payload from 5 kg to 7.5 kg.
On the September 2026 datasheets almost everything else is identical: 850 mm reach, ±0.03 mm repeatability, 4 m/s maximum TCP speed, 570 W maximum power, the same force/torque sensor and the same Ø151 mm footprint.

Where UR5e leads on published figures
No published figure in the cited documents favours UR5e over the other arm.
Where UR7e leads on published figures
- Higher payload: 7.5 kg against 5 kg on the same arm geometry.
- Lower published noise figure: < 65 dB(A) against < 67 dB(A).
What cannot fairly be compared
- Nothing structural: both arms share Universal Robots' published DH parameters, footprint, flange and controller. The practical differences beyond payload are price and availability, which RoboMag does not record.
- UR5e's older Universal Robots documents publish values that differ from its current datasheet (see its specification history). Compare the current datasheets.
Questions to answer before choosing
- Does the heaviest tool plus part, at its centre of gravity, need more than 5 kg, or more margin below the payload chart?
- Is existing tooling and programming built around UR5e? The flange, controller and software are the same.
- What are the current price and lead time from your distributor for each arm?
This comparison uses manufacturer documentation only. RoboMag has not tested either arm, and the published figures are not a performance ranking.
