The working envelope
Universal Robots specifies an 850 mm reach, a 5 kg maximum payload and six rotating joints. The arm itself weighs 20.7 kg and has a 151 mm footprint.
Those figures define the mechanical starting point. Tool mass, centre of gravity and the motion path still shape the usable payload in an application.
Repeatability is not accuracy
The official manual publishes pose repeatability of plus or minus 0.03 mm under ISO 9283. Repeatability describes the ability to return to a pose under defined conditions; it should not be silently presented as absolute positioning accuracy.
Universal Robots also lists IP54 protection and an ambient operating range of 0–50°C, with possible reduced performance above 35°C.
The integration is the machine
An arm specification does not describe the completed cell. End effectors, guarding, risk assessment, control logic and process validation determine what the installed system can safely and consistently do.
